Lucy is bilingual in English and Welsh. Lucy has been windsurfing since she was 12 and turned pro after successfully completing a degree at UWIC in Sport and Exercise Science. Lucy competed in Formula and Slalom racing on a national and international level for several years, and then turned her career as an athlete to campaigning for the Olympics. Lucy is focused and dedicated to her on water and off water training as she is driven by the will to win an Olympic Gold Medal and World Champion status. She is a very active, sporty person who is very approachable all the time and is a very enthusiastic bubbly person. Lucy is a recognised sports person in Wales, having won her County Sports Personality of the year award in 2002 and was nominated for the Welsh Sports Personality of the year in 2003.
Lucy recently moved to Weymouth to maximize her training opportunities. The Weymouth and Portland Sailing Accademy is the sailing venue for the 2012 Olympics and Lucy is regularly seen training out of this venue.
